We had a great time with our friends Ilan, Becky, and their two handsome boys! We were able to enjoy some Lincoln sites, explore a corn maze, bounce a bit and play some Wii. I hope that they enjoyed themselves as much as we did having them here!

WHAT A WEEK~

What a fabulous week! Swimming, horseback ridding, new friends!!
Swim lessons ended with a bang, lots of jumping in the deep end and swimming to the side. Olivia is still not putting her face in to swim but she sure can tread water and get where she needs too.
When horseback ridding, Olivia rode Assure, a very sweet grandma horse. Today we swam with our friends, Aurora, Mia and Phebe. We had TONS of fun and then had them over for make your own pizza night! Thanks for coming girls!
Tomorrow we will head to the driving range and then take Olivia home. I am sure her mom, dad, and brother miss her very much!

Swim Lessons Started!

Today we started swim lessons with our favorite instructor Jenny! She loved having Olivia last year and is teaching her again this year. Olivia went off the diving board twice and even put her face in the water a few times when trying to swim!
Dan and Olivia went to go look at horses and geocaching today. I met them for a picnic lunch where Olivia showed off her climbing skills. After swimming with Will, Braden and Maddie, Olivia wrote and drew pictures for her journal. Whewww what a busy day!

Olivia's First Day!

Today is Olivia's first day with us! We woke up and went to the driving range, said good bye to Grand Mar, Dad and Ethan and then were ready for lunch! Olivia is so good about trying new food at our house! She had a 'mac and cheese' that had blue and cottage cheese! After playing several rounds of Sequence, the rain made the decision for us to rent a movie for the night. Already a great week!

Trip to DC!

On April 16, freshman student, Ashley Davis-Kimmel, headed to Baltimore and Washington, D.C. to discuss with legislators two different bills. Chosen by the National Federation of the Blind, Ashley was one of twenty-five students with visual impairments from across the country selected to participate in their LAW Program, Leadership and Advocacy in Washington. Ashley, along with her teacher of the visually impaired, Amy Lund, spent six days in Washington. The group discussed current and future issues that people with visual disabilities have and how to address them to bring about change. After a day of sight seeing at the Washington Mall, the group prepared to speak to their state representatives. In groups of four, the students met with members of their representative's office to discuss HR734, Pedestrian Safety Enhancement Act, and HR4533, Technology Bill of Rights Act. The Pedestrian Safety Enhancement Act focuses on looking for options to make Hybrid and Electric cars more audible for pedestrians who are blind. The Technology Bill of Rights Act deals with the inaccessibility of current 'touch technology' for people with visual impairments. The overall experience was a once in a lifetime opportunity for Ashley!
